A release from Sioux County Attorney says they are looking for 22-year-old Peter Baccam after he failed to turn himself in on March 13, 2017, to serve a 2-year prison sentence for Domestic Assault Causing Bodily Injury.
The release says the sentence stems from an incident on October 11, 2016, when the 27-weeks pregnant victim reported to the Sioux Center Hospital that she had been assaulted by Baccam. The hospital reported to police possible broken ribs and a concussion to police.
Baccam went to trial on January 11, 2017, where he was found guilty of Domestic Assault Causing Bodily Injury. Because Baccam has two previous convictions of assaulting the same victim, one when the victim was 5-months pregnant the State recommended the maximum sentence, 2-years. The court imposed a 2-year indeterminate sentence, ordering Baccam complete the Iowa Domestic Abuse Program and extend the no contact order.
Peter Baccam failed to turn himself in on March 13 and is now wanted for failure to surrender. If you know the whereabouts of Peter Baccam you're asked to contact the Sioux County Sheriff's Office or your local Law Enforcement Agency.
