About 10:12 AM Jefferson Fire Rescue were called to Dakota Road and 334th Street for reports of smoke coming from a home, they requested assistance from North Sioux City Fire Department.
A neighbor told us he called 911, honked the horn and kicked the door to make sure nobody was home. A neighbor, firefighters, and the homeowner were able to get 2 dogs and a cat out safely.
Assistant Jefferson Fire Chief Kevin Connors says the fire appears to have started at the front of the home and spread throughout the attic making it difficult to extinguish. Nobody was home when the fire started and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
Water was brought in by tanker from the closest hydrant in North Sioux City.
