Wednesday afternoon a witness notified police that someone tried to abduct a minor child.

According to a release, Iowa State Patrol was able to catch up to the suspect vehicle a short time later South of Onawa on Interstate 29. The suspect was transported back to Onawa. Iowa Division of Criminal investigation assisted with the investigation where is was learned from the witness and the minor child that Jeff Altmayer, 56 approached the minor and attempted to lure them into his car.

Jeff Lee Altmayer, 56 was arrested and charged with Enticing a Minor, Impersonation a Public Official and Unlawful Possession of a Prescription Drug.
