Bart Thul, 20 was arrested Sunday afternoon after a struggle with a Sioux City Police officer that ended in the Officers K9 apprehending Thul.According to court documents, Thul was observed by an officer drinking in an alley near 10th and Nebraska. The officer requested identification from Thul who refused and asked for the officers real badge, not his fake one. The officer requested backup as Thul was slurring his words and smelled of alcohol. Thul began to walk away and when ordered to stop Thul turned around striking the officer in the face and then shoving him.Thul was apprehended by the Officers K9, Thul began striking the police K9 with an open hand and attempted to pry his jaw open. Thul was transported to Mercy Medical Center to be checked for the dog bite.When taken into custody, unlabeled prescription drugs, and drug paraphernalia were found in his possession. Additionally, Thul was charged for using a stolen credit card on May 25th, 2016 in 3 incidents where he was recorded on security camera.Thul was booked into the Woodbury County Jail and is being held on $7,500 Bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 21st, 2016.Charges include Assault Serious Peace Officer, Interference with a Police K-9, Interference with Official Acts, Failure to Obey Peace Officer, Public Intoxication, Possession of Prescription Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Theft 5th, Forgery, Identity Theft, and 3 counts of Credit Card Fraud.
