We received numerous reports today of a heavy police presence in the Morningside area near Gordon Drive and South Fairmount, including Sioux City Police and Iowa State Patrol. We've since received reports that this is happening in many areas throughout the city.

Our research indicates this was part of a State Funded Project where Iowa State Patrol works with Local Law Enforcement to enforce traffic laws. This program is part of the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau http://www.dps.state.ia.us/commis/gtsb/ We have found no evidence of any other police action except traffic enforcement.
