Sioux City Fire Rescue responded to a house fire at 4912 Signing Hills Boulevard in Sioux City just before 8:00PM Friday

Captain Anderson says the occupant called 911 after hearing an explosion in the basement and finding the fire. When crews arrived there was smoke on the main floor and were able to find and extinguish the fire in the basement. There was minimal fire damage, the residents have another place to stay tonight.

There was only one person home at the time of the fire and they were able to exit the home without injury. The cause of the fire is not known at this time, the fire investigation bureau is investigating.
