Eliot Stowe, 18 was arrested Friday Morning after reports show he stole a 2002 International Coca Cola Delivery truck that was parked at 4th and Pierce Streets about 7:30AM.
After getting away with the truck police say that Stowe drove the truck to Dakota Dunes where he gave away more than $1000 in merchandise at a construction site before returning to Sioux City.
The truck was spotted in the 4500 Block of Military Rd at about 9:15AM. Police were able to catch up to it near 21st and Center a few minutes later where Stowe led them on a short chase with speeds exceeding 60MPH in a 30MPH zone and ignoring traffic laws.
Stowe jumped from the moving truck near 16th and Geneva where he was taken into custody, the truck jumped a curb and stopped after running into a fence. Police also found prescription drugs on Stowe’s possession during the arrest that were not in his name.
Stowe is currently being held in Woodbury County Jail on $7500 Bond and charged with Theft 1st, Theft 2nd, Possession Drugs, Eluding, Reckless Driving, No Drivers License and Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device. His next court date is scheduled for June 27th at 9:00AM
