Sioux City Fire Rescue Engine 3, Truck 3, Engine 5, Medic 3, Chief 19, Engine 6, Truck 1 was called to a structure fire at 1000 S Newton at 8:30PM on Thursday evening. Initial scanner traffic indicated flames from the 2nd floor on the first Engine arrived on scene.

According to Assitant Fire Cheif Robert Wilson when they arrived they observed heavy smoke from the attic area. Firefighters had a difficult getting to the fire because of the configuration of the attic. The occupants and their pets were able to get out safely and no injuries were reported.

Sioux City Fire Rescue will continue to monitor the structure and start their investigation, at this time, there is not a known cause.
