On Friday, June 13th, 2025, at approximately 6:42 AM, the Sioux City Police Department responded to multiple reports of an individual threatening motorists on the Veterans Memorial Bridge. Witnesses described a male with extensive facial and neck tattoos who was pointing what appeared to be a firearm at passing vehicles while shouting at drivers. The suspect was seen placing the weapon into a backpack before officers arrived.
When police reached the scene, the individual refused repeated commands to drop his backpack and fled on foot. Officers pursued and apprehended the suspect using non-lethal force after a brief chase. A search following his arrest revealed a replica handgun and drug paraphernalia consisting of a glass pipe with residue.
Lonzo Louis Thomas, age 35, was booked into the Woodbury County Jail on charges including Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon (Class C Felony), Failure to Obey a Peace Officer, Interference with Official Acts, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
