The first firefighters on scene reported smoke visible from a second story window. Two occupants of the home were able to escape the structure and call 911. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a fire in an upstairs bedroom which investigators say started from improperly disgarded smoking materials. The fire also spread to the ceiling.
Overall damage to the home was moderate, the home has been retagged until repairs can be made. Working smoke alarms alerted the occupants to the fire, reducing the chances of injuries and further property loss.
