A fire broke out about 11:30AM on Wednesday Morning at a shared business building near 28th Street and Highway 75 in Sioux City.
Crews battled the fire for more than 5 hours, which we’re told started in Fischer Trucking part of the building. One source tells us that the fire started at a shrink wrapping machine in the business and quickly spread. Sioux City Fire has not yet released any information on the cause of the fire. Fire completely destroyed the Trucking Company part of the building and moved into Boatman Tile and Granite. Additional businesses in the building received smoke damage, we haven’t received information if they also received fire damage.
Iowa Dot and Sioux City Police assisted in closing one lane of Highway 75 in the area. A Sioux City Transit bus was on scene, giving firefighters a place to rest, warm up and rehydrate, Siouxland Paramedics were on the scene to provide medical attention to firefighters that may need it. No injuries were reported from people at the business or firefighters.
About 8:20PM Wednesday Evening crews that remained on the scene watching for rekindling reported the fire had reignited. Additional units responded and put out the fire.
